Membership
Timing
New members are accepted into the Unplugged choir up to the second rehearsal each session. The Fall term starts Wednesday Sept. 14th-Nov. 30th with a concert at the Sid Williams Theatre on December 3rd. The Spring term generally starts around the third week of January with an evening and matinee performance mid-Spring. Unplugged singers may join one or both terms with no audition and the Jazzy Jems and Vocal Minority are usually set for the year after the June auditions.
Rehearsals are all held at Highland Secondary School in the Music Room. Unplugged meets Wednesday nights from 7:30-9pm, the Jazzy Jems meet Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:15 (plus self-directed sectionals), and Vocal Minority meets Thursday nights from 7-9pm.
Commitment
As part of registering into the choir, we ask our members to commit to attending at least 9 of the 12 rehearsals (if you'd like to sing in the concert), and to learn and practise our music between rehearsals. If you'd like to check us out before making a commitment for the whole session, we welcome you to attend the first rehearsal at no charge. If you'd like more information, contact us. We'll be happy to answer your questions.
Fees
Fees are $120 for Unplugged singers per term and $180 for the Jazzy Jems and Vocal Minority. Fees have increased, but now include your member’s access code to download mp3 Practice Tracks from the website.
* Registrations will be accepted online from three weeks prior to the session’s start until week 2 of the rehearsals. This helps us enormously in our preparations for the first rehearsal. PLUS once you register, you will be given access to the members-only section of the website where you can get your music and other information.
